Frequently asked questions

Got a question about our services? We’re here to answer them. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, get in touch using the contact form.
Where are meetings held?

We are happy to meet face to face, either at your home or at a mutually convenient location near Fareham and Winchester. Alternatively, we can hold meetings via Skype, Zoom or FaceTime.

Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?

No. The purpose of our initial meeting is for us to get to know you, and you to get to know us.

What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?

Just yourselves and lots of questions.

How long should I allow for an initial meeting?

We usually expect meetings to last about one hour.

Do I have to sign up to your services at an initial meeting?

No. After the initial meeting, we will write to you explaining what we can do, if we can add value, and if so, the costs involved.

How can I book an initial meeting?

Send us an email or give us a ring – we love to talk!

What happens after my initial meeting?

We will advise if we can add value and then provide confirmation of what our fees will be if you choose to proceed. This is entirely bespoke and will be dependent on the work involved.

Are you independent?

Yes, which means we are not tied to one provider or group of companies – our job is to find the right solution for you from the whole market.

Are you regulated?

Yes. We are Appointed Representatives of Julian Harris Financial Consultants, and as such are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Do you provide ongoing advice?

Absolutely. All ongoing advice is tailored to you, and the costs are commensurate with the work involved. Ongoing advice is provided on a fee basis, which is disclosed and agreed prior to commencement.

Can you advise on final salary/defined benefit transfers?

Yes, we are qualified to advise on these areas, but it requires an in-depth analysis and the regulator’s stance is that in the majority of cases, it is not suitable.

Do you take a percentage or are your fees fixed?

We do not take a percentage on initial or ongoing advice. An idea of overall costs will be disclosed to and agreed upon with you after your initial meeting before you decide if you would like us to work with you.

Do you charge VAT?

No.
